Obituary of Richard "Rick" G. Cervenak

BALLSTON SPA - Richard "Rick" G. Cervenak, 66, of Ballston Spa, NY, beloved husband of Elizabeth "Beth" (Gier) Cervenak, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025, at Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville, New York.

Born in 1958 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, Rick was the son of the late John Sr. and Margaret (Corcoran) Cervenak. In 1966, he moved with his family to Latham, NY, where he graduated from Shaker High School, Class of 1976. He continued his education at Hudson Valley Community College, graduating in 1978, and later at SUNY Delhi, Class of 1980.

Rick and Beth were married in June of 1992 at Saint Mary's Church in Halfmoon, NY, sharing a devoted and loving marriage of over 32 years. He spent 21 years working as a salesman for Genuine Parts Company in Latham and concluded his career in the paving industry.

Rick was a lifelong sports enthusiast who loved baseball, softball, and especially golf. He was a proud member of the Saratoga Lake Golf Club, where he taught his children how to golf. He had a passion for antiquing and also enjoyed taking beach vacations with his family to the Jersey Shore (LBI).

In addition to his cherished wife Beth, Rick is survived by his two children, Corinne and Noah Cervenak; his siblings, John Jr. (Nancy) Cervenak and Margaret (Derek) Brown; as well as several nieces and nephews from both the Gier and Cervenak families.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
