THOMAS DAVID SANO
Hudson FL.- Thomas David Sano, 70 of Hudson Florida and formerly of Latham, beloved husband of the late Sherry Lee Smith, entered into eternal life on Friday, June 8, 2012 at his residence in Florida.
Born and educated in Albany, he was the son of the late Michael and Catherine (Ant) Sano. He attended William Hackett Jr. High School and graduated from Cardinal McCloskey High School class of 1961. Tom served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. During the war he helped evacuate dependents of US Naval Base in Guantanamo Bay and was in Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Tom was awarded the Naval Meritorious Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the National Defense Medal.
He was employed by the New York State Police starting with Division Headquarters in Albany as a Communications Operator and in 1965 transferred to Troop "G "doing the same job. In 1969 he became the Troop "G" Quartermaster until he retired in 1996.
Survivors include his loving companion Genevieve Stringer of Hudson FL, one brother: Michael Sano of Schenectady, two sisters Joan Vischer of Ballston Lake, and Anne Lauterborn of Albany and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home 149 Old Loudon Rd. Latham on Wednesday June 13, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday June 14, 2012 at 9:00 am in St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham with Rev. Francis DuBois officiating.
Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie.
