Obituary of June Carroll Phillippe

JUNE CARROLL PHILLIPPE HALFMOON-June Carroll Phillippe, (nee MacRae) 81, beloved wife of Rev. John Phillippe, died Friday, June 7, 2013 at her home with her loving family at her side. Carroll was born February 20, 1932 in Hunter River, Prince Edward Island Canada, the daughter of Percy and Luetta (Stetson) MacRae. She graduated from Prince of Wales College, Charlottetown, PEI, Canada as a medical technologist. She moved to Dayton, Ohio and was employed as a medical technologist in 1953. Shortly after moving to Dayton, she relocated to Marion, Ohio and was employed by the local hospital. It was in Marion where she met her husband John and they were married on June 29, 1957. Five children were born of this union, David (Susan) of Oneonta, NY, Timothy (Pam) of Voorheesville, NY, Kent (Kate) of Annandale, VA, Elizabeth Kanzelman (Robert) of Rochester, MN and Kathleen Romano (Robert) of Amherst, NH. Carroll spent most of her years as a busy pastor's wife caring for her children and supporting her husband's ministry. She was always active in the United Methodist Church, singing in the choir where ever she lived. She made many of her children's clothes when they were young and in later years developed a real knack for tole style painting of wood crafts that were treasured by many. Carroll really enjoyed returning to her beloved Prince Edward Island almost every summer and introducing family and friends to the red soil and sand and Anne of Green Gables. In addition to her husband John, her five children and six grandchildren Kayla and Nathan Kanzelman, Jordan and Jessica Phillippe, Marissa and Eric Romano, a step granddaughter, Cristin and step great granddaughter Riley. She is predeceased by her parents. Funeral Services will be on Thursday June 13, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Calvary United Methodist Church Belle Avenue and Ridge Place Latham with Rev. Robert Kolvik-Campbell officiating. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at Calvary United Methodist Church on Wednesday June 12, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville. It is requested that memorials in lieu of flowers be made to the Calvary United Methodist Church Belle Ave. & Ridge Place Latham, NY 12110 or the Multiple Sclerosis Society 421 New Karner Rd.
