ZBIGNIEW SWIETON
Latham- Zbigniew Swieton, 61 of Latham, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, March 20, 2015 at Samaritan Hospital, in Troy.
Born in Holczkw, Poland on December 3, 1953, he was the son of the late Jakub and Anna (Tomaszewski) Swieton. Zbigniew was married to the former Maria Bobek and the two shared a blessed union of 40 years together. He served in the Polish Military from 1972-1974 and was a UN peacekeeper in 1973. He was Vice President of the Polish National Alliance #1684, Member of the St. Michael's Community Center and the Polish American Citizens Club in Albany. Zbigniew was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all.
He was employed as a Mason with Ganem Contracting in Clifton Park.
Zbigniew is survived by his beloved wife: Maria and his loving sons: Pawel (Laura) Swieton of Valatie and Karol Swieton of Troy, his beloved grandchildren; Elzbieta "Bea", Halina and Aidan as well as his siblings; Czestawa Prozowski, Stanislaw Swieton, Maria Ambrozek, Urczula Zakrewski, Boguslawa Bencarz and Czeslaw Swieton all in Poland and several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his brother Tadeusz Swieton.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday, March 23, 2015 from 4-7 pm at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
His Mass of Catholic Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 9:30 am at St. Michael's Church, 36 Page Avenue, Cohoes. Fr. Peter Tkocz officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Michael's Church, 36 Page Ave., Cohoes, NY 12047
Interment will take place in St. Michael's Cemetery, Waterford.
