About Us
Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home was founded when Kevin Cavanaugh, who after serving the community of Watervliet for many years, decided to purchase the Robert Dufresne Funeral Home from Robert Dufresne in 1984, located on Old Loudon Road in Latham. The building at one time housed the former St. Ambrose Church. It was then renamed Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home and Kevin became the sole operator. In 1992, the funeral home was expanded to become a 5200 square feet facility, adding a newer more modern chapel, inviting foyer entrance and easier accessibility for the elderly and the handicapped and ample parking.
In this day of multiple owned funeral homes including ones owned by out of town funeral directors claiming they will serve your family better at a lower cost is an untrue statement. While our fees are considered reasonable and competitive, we at Dufresne & Cavanaugh distinguish ourselves through the quality of our service, superior facilities and a willing attitude to fulfill the needs and wishes of every family we are privileged to serve. We have been a locally family owned funeral home that has been serving families of the capital district for many years and we plan to keep it that way. It is important for us to let you know that when selecting our funeral home your needs will be served by Kevin Cavanaugh, Vincent Perniciaro or Robert Bourgeois and their dedicated staff. That allows us to provide you and your family with the personal touch that is needed at a very difficult time.
