Obituary of Peter A. Van Buren

PETER A. VAN BUREN Loudonville- Peter A. Van Buren, 99 of Loudonville, beloved husband of the late Loretta E. Russell, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Our Lady of Mercy Center in Guilderland. Born in Mt. Vernon, NY on July 31, 1917, he was the son of the late David and Mary Genevieve (Sexton) Van Buren. Peter was an Attorney at Law with the office of the New York State Attorney General in Albany, Real Property Bureau, for over 25 years retiring in 1983. He was a 1952 graduate of Fordham Law School, which he attended while working in the publishing industry in New York City. He was a very devout Catholic, who briefly entered the seminary as a young man. More recently, he was a communicant of St. Pius X Church in Loudonville, and a frequent participant at St. Francis Chapel. Survivors include his loving children Peter D. Van Buren and his wife, Penny, and Dr. Laura Weed, his cherished grandchildren Jason C. Weed, Peter M. Van Buren and his husband, Wilson Co, and David R. Van Buren. He is also survived by his brother Edgar Van Buren, but was pre-deceased by his siblings, Sr. Alma Van Buren, OP, John Austin Van Buren, Nicklaus Van Buren, and infant John Van Buren. He leaves behind several nieces and nephews, as well. The family would like to thank the staff of Our Lady of Mercy Center for their devoted care of our father for the last few years. Peter's Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday June 24, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Road, Loudonville. Interment will be next to his beloved wife Loretta in St. Agnes Cemetery Menands.
