MARTIN P. DION Averill Park-Martin P. Dion, 63 of Averill Park and Lake George, entered into eternal life on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Albany Medical Center with his loving family and dear friends at his side. Born in Troy, he was raised in Cohoes and was the son of the late Joseph Louis and Mary R. (Martin) Dion. He was educated in Cohoes and was a graduate of the New York Institute of Technology. Marty was a NYS Licensed Architect and was also licensed in many other northeastern states. He was currently a Senior Architect with Sage Engineering Associates, LLP in Albany. Formerly, he was co-owner of Langer-Dion Associates architecture firm. He was a member of the American Institute of Architects, The Construction Specification Institute, The National Council of Architectural Registration Boards and the Albany Small Business Association. Marty was an avid skier and longtime member of both the Out of Control Ski club and the Single Ski Club of Albany. He loved being in his boat on Lake George with friends and family. His passion for music included hosting an award-winning radio show "Kaleidoscope" for many years with his friend Jim Barrett at WRPI in Troy.
Survivors include his cherished son Titian L. Dion of Troy, loving sister Yvonne (Ed) Koniowka of Whitmore Lake, MI, uncle Donald Martin, and aunt Naomi Reese. Marty was the loving uncle of Kim Hoyt, Ed (Danyal) Koniowka and Greg Koniowka, "GUM" to Nathan and Savanna Koniowka, beloved companion of Joanne Cimorelli, special godfather to Andrew Wheeler, special friend to Jackie Danner, Mick and Kathy Wheeler, Roberta Spencer, Dan and Robyn Langer, and Sue Tillman,. He is also survived by several cousins and so many incredible friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday August 5, 2009 at 9:00 am in Holy Trinity Church, 122 Vliet Boulevard, Cohoes. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, Ltd., 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Cohoes. Contributions to Habitat for Humanity of Rensselaer County 35 State St. Troy, NY 12180 or the Lake George Association 2392 State Route 9N, Lake George, NY 12845 in memory of Marty would be appreciated.
