Obituary of Katherine M. Neilson

KATHERINE M. NEILSON Latham- Katherine M. "Kay" Neilson, 87, of Latham, beloved wife of the late Donald H. Neilson, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2018 at the Eddy-Village Green in Cohoes. . Born in 1930 in Malone, she was the daughter of the late William P. and Anna E. (McGibbon) McCabe. Kay was predeceased by her beloved husband Donald H. Neilson in 2006, after fifty six years of marriage. She was a Secretary at Shaker High School for over twenty five years before retiring in 1993. Kay was a "Prime Timer' at the Calvary United Methodist Church for many years and a member of the Colonie Senior Citizens. Kay was also a former member of the St. Ambrose "Young at Heart" and the Colonie Elk's Lodge #2192 Ladies Auxiliary. Survivors include her loving children Sharon L. (Bruce) Kunkel of Niskayuna and Donald J. (Pauline Dryden) Neilson of Saratoga Springs, her cherished grandchildren, Kari Bennett, and Dylan Valentin Neilson, her adored great grandchildren Katherine "Katie" and Kelsey Bennett. She was the sister of Theresa (Late Edward) Premo of Ocala, Fl, William J. (Judy) McCabe of Malone and the late Shirley Colunio, sister in law to Margaret Neilson, and cousin of Eleonore (Late John) McCabe, Brent (Andrea) Stewart, and Noel (Debbie) Stewart and several other cousins, nieces and nephews. Services will be held Friday February 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in Calvary United Methodist Church, 15 Ridge Place, Latham. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home 149 Old Loudon Rd. Latham, on Thursday February 8, 2018 from 3:30 p.m. til 6:30 p.m. Interment will take place next to her beloved Don at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
