DAVID C. FARRELL
Latham- David C. Farrell, 65 of Latham, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home with his family by his side on Saturday, March 17, 2018.
Born in Albany on April 2, 1952, he was the son of the late John E. and Jean E. (Carey) Farrell. David graduated from HVCC in Troy with an Associate's Degree in Business. He was married to the former Linda R. Calandra on August 24, 1974 and shared a devoted union of 43 years together.
David worked in the grocery business for 50 years, beginning with Albany Public in 1968. It was there he met the love of his life. Most recently, he was employed as the store manager of the Hannaford Bros. store in Voorheesville. He was instrumental in launching the Healthy Living Center at the Albany Hannaford in conjunction with CDPHP. He was also a volunteer at the Regional Food Bank of N.E.N.Y and the Ronald McDonald House. David was a true family man and was devoted to his family and 4 grandchildren. He was anxiously awaiting the birth of his new granddaughter. He loved the beach, especially his family trips to Cape Cod. He was also an avid golfer and fan of the New York Giants.
In addition to his devoted wife Linda, he is survived by his loving children Chris (Brooke) Farrell of Granville, Laurie (Chris) Glockler of Clifton Park and Pete (Jamie) Farrell of Troy as well as his 4 cherished grandchildren Jack, Connor and Liam Farrell and Ashley Glockler. He is also survived by his sister Susan Farrell of Braintree, MA, his nephew Matthew Calandra of Moravia, NY and many dear friends and coworkers.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Thursday March 22, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
David's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday March 23 at 10:00 am at St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
The Farrell family also wishes to extend its deepest gratitude to Dr. David Shaffer and the staff of NYOH for their kindness and compassion.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in David's memory to NYOH Community Cancer Foundation, 449 Route 146, Suite 101, Clifton Park NY 12065
Interment will take place in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
