Obituary of Winifred I. Philbrook

WINIFRED I. PHILBROOK Cohoes- Winifred I. Philbrook, 101, formerly of Gloversville, and currently a resident of Eddy Village Green in Cohoes passed away peacefully on Tuesday August 14, 2018. Winnie was born October 8, 1916 on the family farm in the Town of Mayfield. The home was located on what is now Scout Island in the Great Sacandaga Lake. She was the daughter of the late William H. and Daisy (Brown) Brooks. Winifred was married to Clifton H. Philbrook in 1936 and the two shared a blessed union of 64 years prior to his passing on March 3, 2000. She was a Dental Assistant at the office of Dr. Benjamin Basuk DDS in Gloversville for 32 years, retiring in 1986. Winifred was an avid bowler and a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Latham. She is survived by her loving son: Edwin (Jenny) Philbrook of Latham; 3 cherished grandchildren: Renee (Greg) Bosch, Steven Philbrook and Kyla (Charles Wiff) Philbrook; 2 adored great grandchildren: Amelia and Theo as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Winifred is predeceased by her siblings: Howard "Mike" Brooks, Bess Mole, Alma Fudger and Ona Anderson. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday August 20, 2018 from 11:00-12:00 noon at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham. Funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation at 12:00 noon at the funeral home with Pastor John Phillippe officiating. Interment will take place next to her beloved husband Clifton in Maple Avenue Cemetery, Fultonville.
