Obituary of Elva Juanita Hawkins

ELVA JUANITA HAWKINS Latham- Elva Juanita Hawkins, 87 of Colonie, beloved wife of the late Alman J. Hawkins, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2018 at Albany Medical Center. Born April 6th 1931 in Shreveport, Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late Shelby and Evie (McMillan) Young. She was a graduate of Hornbeck High School in Louisiana and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Art from SUNY Oswego. Elva married Alman J. Hawkins on March 15th 1952, cherishing a loving union of 57 years before his passing on October 19, 2009. Elva was a self-employed Transcriptionist at MedQuist Co in Latham for many years before retiring. Elva is survived by her children Susan A. Hawkins of Round Lake and Harold A. Hawkins of Bay Ridge, as well as her brothers Mark Young and Alvin Young of Alexandria, Louisiana. She also leaves behind three cherished grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Inurnment will take place in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
