Obituary of Richard D. Yurkon

RICHARD D. YURKON Latham- Richard "Dick" D. Yurkon, 89 of Latham, beloved husband of the late Carolyn C. Darby Yurkon, passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 22, 2018. Born in Amsterdam on November 5, 1928, he was the son of the late Dennis and Julia (Dargush) Yurkon. He proudly served as a Corporal and MP in the US Army during the Korean War. Dick was married to Carolyn C. Darby and the two shared a blessed union of love and devotion for 42 years prior to her passing on June 8, 1998. Dick was a Senior Designer with General Electric in Schenectady where he also completed the Apprentice Course, retiring in 1989. He was also a member of the Colonie Elks Lodge #2192 and the Colonie Seniors Golf League and Eight Ball Club. He is survived by his loving children: Robert M. (Ellen) Yurkon of Oswego, Catherine T. Yurkon of Annapolis, MD, Thomas G. (Kathryn) Yurkon and Matthew R. (Justin) Yurkon of Coral Gables, FL as well as his 3 cherished Granddaughters & 3 Grandsons. Dick is predeceased by his sister Helen Maglia. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Saturday morning August 25, 2018 from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m.at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham. Interment will take place next to his beloved wife Carolyn in St. Patrick's Cemetery Watervliet. In lieu of flowers donations to Our Lady of Assumption Church 498 Watervliet- Shaker Rd.
