Dear Vicki, Bethany, Ken, Kayleigh, Sawyer, Jacob, Mark and Brittany
Wow, not sure what we can say that will ease your heartbreak at this extremely
difficult time with the passing of your husband, dad, father, father in law and Pop-Pop, Mike, and one of our American cousins!
We can with the utmost conviction say, that Mike was such a kind hearted, generous family man, the guy with ‘the deep voice’ who could make anyone feel at ease with his calming words and actions. He always seem to know what to say and was always there to help out at the right time.
He was one of the finest people anyone would who knew him loved having him in their lives…………….but all of you have been blessed to share your life with him and being able to call him your husband, soulmate, dad, father in law and Pop-Pop! We hope that all of the times that you were able to share together,
will help you through this most difficult time. May it also help to know that we are here for all of you, with our thoughts and prayers and whatever else we can offer to you today and in the days ahead!
With great love and hugs for all of you
Lois and Joe Mercanti and family…

I can't believe it was Monday morning and the four of us were text messaging about the weather and our activities. Ken suggested he wanted to "build a snowman". You responded with a picture of your snowy backyard and said, here's the snow come up and get it. We are here but not to build a snowman.
I was so glad that the four of you had your day at the Ohio State Maryland football game (you, brothers Vincent and Joseph and my husband Ken) and saw our retirement home in Delaware.
You will never be forgotten and always in my heart. RIP
Love you,
Diane, your big sister

I hesitate to write condolences for Mike because he was such a wonderful person I doubt my ability to do him justice. My closest contact with Mike was fifteen years or so ago, when my oldest son played football for him. I appreciated not only the way Mike taught and related to my son and his teammates, but the exemplary rapport he had with the whole football coaching staff at South Colonie; they all seemed to like each other and their camraderie sreemed to me to pervade the program and enhance the football experience for all the kids. And Coach A cheerfully showed up at all our Football Booster meetings and made those meetings a pleasure to attend as well. But I had a daughter and another son who followed my oldest at South Colonie, and Mike's influence on them as a gym teacher and faculty member were quite as remarkable as they'd been on their older brother as his coach. He was such a good-natured person, just beaming good will and making it impossible for you not to appreciate the company of others. I stayed in touch with Mike through my occasional visits to the school and he was unfailingly full of compliments for others whenever I'd seek him out to chat him up; he truly did remain loyal to the school and even to the football program and consistently seemed not to have an ounce of bitterness or even negative energy in him. Mike's appreciation for his colleagues and students notwithstanding, it was always obvious that his first love was for his family and my most sincere regrets to them for what has to be a terrible, and wrenching loss. Coach Ambrosio was a patient and stand up guy. When I was 16 or 17 I had trouble learning how to drive because my parents were not very patient with me. They were very hard to stay calm and in control around when it came to driving. I took drivers ed that summer and Coach just made me feel comfortable on the road. The first time I drove on the highway was with coach. Sometimes it takes someone other than your parents to help you through the rites of passage. I got my liscence later that year. I’ll never forget it. Actually I might have given him some white hairs but he got me there. But it doesn’t matter if was lifting weights, gym class, life as a teenager or the road, coach never steered me wrong. I am so sorry for your loss. It seems like only yesterday. When I fly back to Colonie it just won’t be the same.

I feel compelled to extend my gratitude to Mike. Thanks for making me feel especially great. Thanks for being a Red Dragon and my teammate.
Mike was and remains a super teammate. People will always remember how you made them feel. Mike embraced life and all those around him. He was and remains a connector. I still recall my embrace as a fellow teammate. Anxious and new to my new team, Mike's demeanor put me in a safe place. I recall him first, as I transitioned to what I hoped would be a great experience. Because of Mike, my life was transformed as a welcomed teammate. I'll always be grateful for that, my joy resulted in my connection to another, 'Ambro'.
Mike was and remains a connector, coach, teacher, and trans-formative guy. My teammate and one to many, many others. Thanks.

Mike was such an inspiration from the moment I came to colonie in 93. He was such an integral part to my lax staff. He loved kids and treated them with respect and gave them oppportunites to succeed. In return they would run trhough walls for him. The last couple years of his career I was lucky enough to share a classroom with him. His love for his family and our talks about spending quality time with our loved ones iis especially memorable. He gave my young son a Giants book and a Giants towel and would always engage in sports talk with him when we met up. Our atudents would speak so,highly of,him and would tell me their dad's played for him as well and had so many great memories. My heart is heavy and my condolesces to his family and all those lives he touched .He was a special man ,
