JEAN M. CONKLIN
Latham- Jean M. Conklin, 77 of Latham, entered into eternal life on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the Community Hospice in Albany Memorial Hospital.
Born in Albany, she was the loving daughter of Zola (Lee) Kreiger of Latham and Harpswell Maine and the late William E. Kreiger, step-father.
Jean was a graduate of Roessleville High School class of 1950 and was an active alumni member. She attended Oneonta State College. Jean was a counter clerk at the Latham Postal Service and retired as a bookkeeper there after 36 years of service.
She was former president of the P.T.A. at Forts Ferry Elementary School. She was an officer of the Business and Professional Women in Latham for several years. Jean was a girl scout leader for the Girl Scouts of America at Forts Ferry School for several years. She was active with the Colonie Senior Center where she enjoyed playing Pinochle and Bridge. She was a member of the "single squares" square dancing club. Jean loved to travel to Florida and traveling with her family and friends. She had a heart of gold towards her family and friends, she was very giving, kind and her joy, smile and laugh will be missed by all. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Latham.
Survivors in addition to her mother include her loving children Paul (Vickie) Conklin of Cumberland, ME, Beverly (Dan Cook) Conklin of Latham and Cindy (Tim) Murray of Cohoes, her brother Richard (Barbara) Birdsall of Colonie, her cherished granddaughters, Emily Conklin and Ericka Murray her stepsister, Patricia (Donald) Anderson of Harpswell, ME, her companion, Jack Wilson of Colonie and she is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday November 18, 2009 at 10:00 am in the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, Ltd., 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham with Rev. John Phillippe officiating.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie.
