Obituary of Charles F. Little

CHARLES F. LITTLE Queensbury-Charles F. Little Jr, 90, of Queensbury, NY, beloved husband of Dorothy A. Little, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at home on Friday, May 21, 2021. Born in Cohoes, NY on April 5, 1931, he was the son of the late Charles Frederick Little and the late Elizabeth August Boyack. Charles was a second generation German American and a third generation Irish American. He graduated from Albany High School class of 1949. He received his Bachelor's Degree (BA) in History at Union College, Schenectady New York in 1953. He received his Juris Doctorate Degree (JD) from Albany Law School in 1958. Charles joined the Air Force in 1956 after receiving his BA from Union College. He was stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany during the Cold War and was a member of the Air Force Judge Advocates Group (JAG). After being stationed in Germany he returned to New York to continue in the Air Force Reserves to eventually retire as a Major. His lifelong motto was his belief in "God, The Air Force and the United States of America". His legal career began with private practice and he later retired after a long career working as an attorney at the New York State Department of Health. Charles married Dorothy Saabel in July 28, 1962. They spent the first thirty years of their marriage living in the Capital District and raising their three children before spending the last twenty-seven years in Queensbury. Charles was a lifelong believer in education and learning. He was involved in Union College Alumni Association events for 68 years. Charles was involved in the development of the Town of Colonie Public Library in 1976. He continued his focus on learning and education after moving to Queensbury and served as a local representative at the Crandall Public Library in Glens Falls, NY. He and his family were members of the Newtonville United Methodist Church for three generations and he and his wife Dorothy attended the Christ Church and Queensbury United Methodist Churches in Queensbury. Charles lived his life as a life-long Methodist providing financial gifts to educational programs in Appalachia, American Indian Reservations, and National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and his beloved Union College. Charles had a love for traveling with his wife Dorothy and his family. He had a love of steam trains and made special efforts to travel on heritage railways in America. He enjoyed visits to relatives in Germany and to his son-in-law's family in the Netherlands. He enjoyed travel for all of its new experiences and had special memories of Alaska, including travel north of the Artic Circle. He is predeceased by Dorothy, his wife of almost 59 years and his brother George Little. Survivors include his three children Paul, Stephen, Susan and her husband Leendert Poot and their daughters, Charles' two granddaughters, Saskia and Kyleigh Poot. He is also survived by members of the Boyack and Little families. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, May 28th, 2021 from 12:00-2:00pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd, Latham, with a prayer service at 2:00pm with Rev.
