CONSTANCE THERESA ALSTON Loudonville-Constance Theresa Alston, 83 of Loudonville, our beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully at home with family members by her side after a long battle with cancer. Connie was born on September 14, 1937 at Leonard Hospital in Troy, NY to John and Aniela Magda Bania, both Polish immigrants. Connie grew up in Watervliet, NY as the youngest of the 5 Bania children, known for their White Eagle and later Bania Butter Bakery. Connie graduated from Catholic Central High School in Troy with the class of 1955 and went on to attend Albany Business College before joining the workforce. She met her husband Gerald Anthony Alston, also of Watervliet and CCHS class of 1955 and they were married on January 24, 1965 and spent 33 years married.. Connie stayed home to start a family and she and Jerry settled in Loudonville where they raised their 2 sons, Jerry and John. Connie returned to work at Legislative Bill Drafting, surviving many late night legislative sessions, working there until her retirement. Connie stayed busy in her retirement playing bridge and bocce, volunteering with the Ladies of Charity, attending concerts, movies, opera and local theater with her friends. She was a member of St Pius X congregation and a supporter of the Pruyn House. She loved to travel and explore new places, cultures and foods, especially with her beloved brother Andrew.
