ANTHONY C. BURSI
Loudonville-Antonio "Tony" Cesere Bursi, 87, of Colonie, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, June 21, 2021 after a second courageous battle with cancer.
Tony was born on February 5, 1934 to parents Alberto and Concetta Bursi. On August 1, 1949 at the age of fifteen Tony immigrated to the United States settling in Schenectady. He attended Schenectady schools and went on to work for GE up until his enlistment in the US Army in June of 1953. Tony became a US Citizen on October 4, 1955 and was honorably discharged from the Army on May 31, 1961. Following his discharge, he worked many years as a painter for Sterling Drug Co. of Rennsselaer.
Tony had a passion for gardening and loved to share his fruits, vegetables, and beautiful flowers he grew with everyone. He loved to cook and also enjoyed traveling all over the world. He was particularly proud to tell everyone he had been on over twenty cruises.
In addition to his parents Tony is predeceased by his longtime companion Sharon Romand and his sisters Elia Farini and Mafalda Mareno.
Survivors include his daughters Catherine Bursi and Teresa Bursi-Weise, adored granddaughter Danielle (Kyle) Carpenter, as well as brother Aldo Bursi, and longtime friend Gerry LeBarron. Also survived by several nieces and nephews in both New York and Italy.
Tony's family would like to express their sincere thanks to the nurses and staff of Community Hospice for their loving care and dedication.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday, June 28, 2021 from 9:00-10:00am at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Dr., Colonie. Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 10:00am thence to Evergreen Cemetery, Colonie where entombment will take place with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Tony's honor to the Disabled American Veterans at www.dav.org.
Arrangements have been entrusted by the family to Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home Latham, NY.
