Obituary of Albert R Laferte
ALBERT R LAFERTE
Albert R. "Al" Laferte, born July 26, 1941, of Niskayuna, NY passed away peacefully on July 18, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.
Al was born and raised in Woonsocket, RI by the late Albert A and Germaine (Poisson) Laferte. He joined the United States Navy at age 17 and served over 20 years retiring as a MMC Chief Petty Officer. After his second tour of duty in Vietnam he was sent to the Naval Language School in Monterrey, CA to be immersed in the Vietnamese language and culture; returning to Vietnam as an advisor. He later worked and retired from Siemens, working as a mechanical engineer.
Al is survived by his loving wife Kathleen A. (Behuniak) Laferte; his step-children Art (Linda) Breault and Andrea M. Breault; his grandchildren Samantha L. Breault and David E Breault. Survivors also include siblings, Pauline Cote and Paul Laferte; niece Denise Cote, nephew Brian (Michele) Laferte. He is predeceased by his nephew Michael (Valerie) Cote.
Visitation for family and friends will take place on July 22, 2021 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham. A Prayer service will immediately follow at the funeral home thence to Saratoga National Cemetery where interment with full military honors will take place.
