KATHLEEN A. LAFERTE
NISKAYUNA - The world lost a beloved mother, Kathleen Ann (Behuniak) Laferte, on July 28th, 2022, at Albany Medical Center. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
Kathy was born on May 28th, 1938 in Maplewood and was the daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Mae (Pinckney) Behuniak. She moved to Green Island during the early part of her life and went on to live most of her life in Clifton Park with her husband Albert Laferte.
Kathy worked for over 30 years at Jonesville Fire District as the Secretary/Treasurer. She served as the first women President of the Association of Fire Districts for the Capital Area from 1974 to 1985. She was also the Director of Region I for the Association of Fire Districts of the State of NY from 1984 to 1989. Kathy was a member of the Southern Saratoga County Women's Bridge Group for over 45 years. She was an avid player who won numerous championships. Kathy was a compassionate spirit whose passion was caring for others. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when her family needed her.
Kathy is survived by her son, Art (Linda) Breault, and daughter Andrea M Breault; her grandchildren Samantha L and David E Breault. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her husband Albert R Laferte and her brother John Behuniak. She will truly be missed by her family and many friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, August 1st, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham. Parastas Service will begin at 6:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022, 11:00 am, at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 67 Saratoga St., Cohoes. Interment will take place in Saratoga National Cemetery.
