Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Murphy

MARY ELIZABETH MURPHY Latham- Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Murphy, of Latham, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2022 at The Eddy Memorial Nursing Home in Troy. Born September 30th, 1935 in Troy, Mary was the daughter of the late Charles J. and Frances V. (Geiger) Meehan. She was predeceased by her beloved husband James P. Murphy on June 11th 1994, after thirty-eight cherished years of marriage. Mary was an Administrative Aide to the Assessor. She was employed by the Town of Colonie for eighteen years until retiring in 1997. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed crafts. She was a dedicated communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham. Survivors include her children James (Patricia) M. Murphy of Delanson, Edward C. Murphy of Latham, and John (Michele) D. Murphy of Clifton Park, seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Also survived by her sister, Marilyn (late Arne) Heggen of Ballston Spa and sister-in-law Jane Meehan. In addition to her parents and late husband, Mary was predeceased by her beloved son Michael E. Murphy, brother Charles Meehan, and sister and brother-in-law Frances (James) Casserly. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday, August 18th, 2022 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 19th, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham. Interment will take place immediately following the mass in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Watervliet.
