Obituary of Cynthia "Cindy" L. Lobel

CYNTHIA L. LOBEL Loudonville- LOBEL, CYNTHIA LYNN (nee SHURBERT). Cindy passed into the arms of Jesus on February 28, 2010 after a brief but valiant fight against stomach cancer. She was born on February 7, 1956 in Laconia, NH to Elizabeth Shurbert (nee Coutermarsh) and the late Frederick M. Shurbert, Sr. She graduated from Malden Hospital School of Nursing in Malden, MA, and worked as a neonatal ICU nurse for 15 years, as camp nurse for many years at Moose River Outpost in Jackman, ME, and as a surgical assistant at Northeast Urogynecology. She had served as a board member of the Alpha Pregnancy Care Center and as a committee member at the Albany Academies. She gave up career for her husband and children and was a homeschooling mother for almost 20 years. Her life's passion was serving her God and Savior, Jesus Christ, and she attended Light of the World Christian Church in Latham. She was predeceased by her infant son, Carter Hans. She is survived by her husband of almost 28 years, Robert, their children Jonathan of Frydlant, Czech Republic, Beata of Dublin, Ireland, Mandy of Boston, MA, Erica, and Peter, as well as her mother of Laconia, NH, her sister Susan Bouffard of Littleton, NH, her brothers Rick Shurbert of Gilford, NH and Bill Shurbert of Alton, NH, and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Wednesday from 4-7 pm at the Light of the World Christian Church, 28 Sparrowbush Road, Latham, NY. A Celebration of Cindy's life will be held Thursday at 10:30 am at Light of the World Christian Church, 28 Sparrowbush Road, Latham with Pastor Andrew Zawacki officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Alpha Pregnancy Care Center, 518 Clinton Ave, Albany, NY 12206 or to the Cindy Lobel Memorial Scholarship Fund at Moose River Outpost, c/o Christian Camps and Conferences, Alton, NH 03809.
