WILLIAM H. "Bill" DENSMORE
Latham- William H. "Bill" Densmore, 84 of Latham, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 14, 2010.
Born in Cohoes on July 31, 1925, he was the son of the late Hyram and Eva (Beaudry) Densmore. Bill married the former Josephine Giordano with whom he shared 53 blessed years together. He proudly served in the Marine Corps during World War II and was awarded the prestigious Purple Heart. While in the Marines, he also had the honor of being a secret service bodyguard for Franklin D. Roosevelt. Bill was a lifetime member of the Maplewood American Legion.
He was employed over the years for Allegany Ludlum, Brace Muler Huntley & the Times Union. It was in 1978 when Bill opened and became the owner & operator of Densmore's Deli in Maplewood. His true greatest joy was working his business with his wife, children and grandchildren. Bill will always be remembered for his quick wit and engaging sense of humor.
Bill is survived by his loving daughters; Judy Peterson of Colonie, Susie (Michael) Martin and Diane (Tony) Mancuso all of Latham. His cherished grandchildren; Robert Peterson Jr., Debra (Mike) Holifield, Billy (Kelley) Martin, David (Lori) Martin, Tony Mancuso Jr. and Danielle Mancuso as well as his great grandchildren Anthony Schepisi, Lilly Holifield, Abbey Martin & Brady Martin.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday (today) from 4-7 P.M. at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, Ltd., 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. A celebration of Bill's Life will take place at 7:00 pm immediately following the visitation at the funeral home with Fr. John Tallman officiating.
