I was very sorry to hear of your mom's passing. She was a wonderful person who was a warm "other mother" to my brother, Rob, and I growing up. I will always have fond memories of her, and all of us, at Hoffman's Playland (often after church services at OLA), the town playground & pool, and at the house, with the kids' house in the backyard, and many get-togethers in the breezeway by that curved step into the kitchen. Even just a happy kid's memory of driving a pedal car down the street. As I got older I learned more of how much she was involved in her community. It made her even more special to me, and that Rob & I were lucky to have her be a part of our lives. Now that her time here is done, she can be reunited with Rich, and watch over all of her loved ones.

Jon, Loretta, Martha and family. I am so sorry to hear of Elinor's passing. Your mom was such a kind and thoughtful person and showed such generosity to my family. I still think of the kind words she wrote for me last year when my Father passed away, and the gifts she gave to our girls when they were born. While I am sorry for your loss, I take comfort in the legacy of kindness that lives on within you all. I'll be praying for you all. Love always - Jeff

Elinor was beyond wonderful to Donna Willete and our family. I can’t say enough good things about her. She also helped a lot of people, was very wise, and one of my favorite people to talk to. She will be very dearly missed. She was truly a giver. So sad to hear of her passing. Evan Pellett and Brittany Willette

Elinor's passing hits us very hard. She was a wonderful person and a great neighbor. We will miss her beautiful smile and thoughtful, caring ways. We looked out for each other and it will be difficult to look across the street and not think of her. She was so proud of her children and grand-children. She leaves behind so many people who cared for her and whom she cared for. A legacy of a wonderful life. We are all better people from knowing Elinor.

Dear Joel, Sue, and Jon, please know that my family and I were saddened by learning of the passing of your mom, and send you our heartfelt condolences. I treasure so many happy memories of growing up with you guys (and together with the Paperiello's), spending time at Hoffman's Playland, OLA, finding adventure in the town park, pool, or a backyard; and marveling at your dad's railroad set and model sailing ship, Your mom was always so kind and supportive, and know that you are blessed to have been raised in such a loving family with such remarkable parents. I've heard that that grief is a price we pay in life for experiencing love this side of heaven, so I understand how much your mom was loved, consequently how much sorrow you must feel at this time. We'll be keeping you in our thoughts and prayers and hope to support you in whatever way we can. Wishing you comfort and peace, knowing that your parents are together again. .

Dear Susan, Jon and Joel,
Your mom was my oldest friend and we were so happy that we could raise our children together. We all started out in Latham Village Apartments. Since my folks wanted me to get good grades, I was never allowed to babysit so knew very little about babies. Eli graciously let me practice bathing Joel and other baby care. We both nursed our infants which gave them a very good start. Eli first contacted me for a ride to the State Capitol for a tour, sponsored by the local Welcome Wagon. What a great way to start out a wonderful, life-long friendship. I still keep a photo of all 5 Obuchoskis on the back of my front door. Seeing this as I come down the stairs every morning is a wonderful way to start the day. You 3 are so blessed to have had such wonderful parents, with a personalized miniature train layout in the basement. May the Lord hold each of you in the Palm of His Hand as He shares with you His comfort, peace and love during this difficult time for you. Phil is holding each of you up in prayer.
God bless you,
Janice Livingston

I had the privilege of having Elinor in Festival Celebration Choir during my tenure as director. I will dearly miss her spirit and dedication. I share her Wish List:
That hope, compassion and help will be there for the ill and disadvantaged.
That our democracy will prevail.
That our fractured country will be reunited.
That all nations will join to heal our troubled and endangered world.
"here on earth God's work must truly be our own," (JFK's Inaugural Address)
Pax nobiscum, Elinor
Heartfelt and eloquent.

So sorry to hear of your beautiful mom's passing. I was fortunate to have your mom for 31 years as my neighbor in Latham. She was a great, spunky lady for sure. Always there for her longtime neighbors. And Always had a kind word to say about everyone. She is now up above with the Love of her Life. I can still picture them both walking daily together. God Bless u all during this time of loss!
