Obituary of Margaret M. Kocienski
MARGARET M. KOCIENSKI
SCHAGHTICOKE - Margaret M. Kocienski, 92 of Schaghticoke, beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Kocienski, was peacefully carried into Heaven on the wings of the angels and saints on Saturday, April 29, 2023.
Born in Watervliet on January 22, 1931 she was the daughter of the late Francesco and Susanna (DeRosa) Razzano.
Margaret lived her beautiful life as a quiet, loving, giving, and compassionate woman whose world revolved around her family. She resided in Pleasantdale for over sixty years prior to moving to Schaghticoke with her daughter, Donna. In her early years while raising her family she was an active member of several organizations including both Pleasantdale and Lansingburgh PTA, Lady's Home Burea, Pleasantdale Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, and was a volunteer with the Rensselaer County Board of Elections. She enjoyed music, dancing, flower arranging, baking, crafts, puzzles, playing cards and especially spending time with and being surrounded by her cherished family.
Margaret was a devout Catholic. She dedicated time, effort, and prayers to St. Michael's Rosary Society in Cohoes, St. Anne Society in Waterford, and for over thirty years, organized and coordinated pilgrimages to Canadian Shrines including The Shrine of Sainte Anne de Beaupre and Our Lady of the Cape Shrine.
Margaret's memory and legacy will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Margaret is predeceased by her cherished daughter Marcella (surviving: Richard "Dick") Fushs and is survived by her beloved children: Donna (Thomas "Skip") Colligan, Linda (Paul) Halek, Margaret (Greg) Yaksta, Joseph (Kathleen) Kocienski, Steve (Karen) Kocienski, and Adam (Cindy) Kocienski, eighteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, as well as her sister Yolanda (late Paul) Marziani. Also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews including her loving godchildren James, Antionette, Norina, and Mary.
In addition to her late husband, daughter, and parents Margaret is predeceased by her siblings: Domenica Razzano, Mary (late Tony) Renga, Anthony (late Bianca) Razzano, Vincenza (late Angelo) Falato, Flora (late Frank) Keevern, Ann (late Phil) Romano, Frances (late Martin) Navojoski, and Virginia (late Albert) Esposito.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, May 7th, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Transfiguration Parish, 50 Hillview Dr., Troy, NY.Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. George Fleming on Monday, May 8th, 2023 at Transfiguration Parish, 10:00 AM.Rite of Committal and interment will immediately follow the mass at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Watervliet.
