Obituary of Joan T. Caulfield
JOAN T. CAULFIELD
LATHAM - Joan T. Caulfield, 87 of Latham, passed away suddenly on June 8, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph P. Caulfield who passed away on December 28th, 2022.
Born in Troy, NY on November 23, 1935, she was the daughter of the late George Lesley MacCubbin and Julia (Coleman) MacCubbin. She was educated in the Troy school system and graduated Troy High School, Class of 1952. After graduation she attended Oneonta Teacher's College for two years. On September 17, 1955 she married Joe and they enjoyed sixty-seven years of marriage prior to his passing.
Joan was a homemaker throughout her life, raising two sons and later in life caring for Joe and providing a long and happy life. She was a voracious reader, a crossword puzzle pro, loved word games, and digital solitaire was her favorite. She loved all of the events, outings, and vacations to various destinations with couples from Joe's bowling and golf leagues. She especially loved spending time with her family, in particular, her six cherished grandchildren.
Joan was a devout Catholic and an active supporter of the church's mission. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Mary Hull Caulfield as well as her siblings George Lesley (late Teresa) MacCubbin Jr. and Cecelia (late Joseph) Gavin.
She is survived by her sons Jeffrey M. Caulfield and Thomas E. (Mary) Caulfield, her sisters Frances (late John) Cowan, Mildred Cross, and brother Ronald MacCubbin. In addition, she is survived by her beloved grandchildren Adam (Tiffany), Luke, Erin (Jordan) Flores, Evan, Eric, and Connor as well as several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours on Monday, June 12th, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 13th, 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet Shaker Rd., Latham with Rev. Geoffrey Burke, celebrant. Immediately following the funeral mass Joan will be laid to rest with her husband Joe in Saratoga National Cemetery.
