RITA M. BANIA-CINNEY

LOUDONVILLE - Rita Marino Bania-Cinney passed away August 14th, 2023, just one month after her 98th birthday, at The Schenectady Center after a brief illness.

Born July 16th, 1925, Rita was the daughter of the late Michael and Ida (Goyette) Marino. A graduate of Catholic Central High School, she worked as a bank teller before her marriage to Thaddeus (Ted) J. Bania in 1947. She handled the payroll for her husband's business, White Eagle Bakery, in the early years of their marriage. After Ted's passing in 1987, Rita married George Cinney in 1991. He predeceased her in 2021.

Rita is survived by her loving children, Lynn Bania (Garry Center) of Stowe, VT, Paul J. Bania (Jeanne) of Clifton Park, NY, Christine Bania Kesten of Cape Cod, MA and Michael Bania of Plymouth, MA.

Also survived by grandchildren Jeny Bania (Keith Menter) of Dallas, TX, Kelly Bania (Dan Frisbee) of Bedford Corners, NY, Paul Michael Bania (Amanda) of Brentwood, TN, Tara Bania Wiegand (Daniel) of Grapevine, TX, and Carly Bania (Nic Favreau) of Middletown, RI., great-grandchildren Pruitt and Lane Menter of Dallas, TX, Jack and Blair Frisbee of Bedford Corners, NY, and Tripp Lucas Bania of Brentwood, TN. In addition, she is also survived by several nieces and nephews

Rita was the last surviving sister of her family. In addition to her parents and late husbands she was pre-deceased by her sisters Mary Marino Dugrenier, Joan Marino Fobare and Shirley Marino.

Rita enjoyed knitting, needlepoint, shopping, reading, and bridge.

Her family wishes to acknowledge both the Loudonville Assisted Living Residence for the wonderful support they showed their mother during her time there as well as The Schenectady Center for their compassionate care the last two weeks.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation and funeral services for Rita on Saturday, August 26th, 2023 at St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Rd., Loudonville. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 am with Rev. James Walsh, celebrant. Interment to immediately follow at Memory Gardens, Colonie. Arrangements have been entrusted by Rita's family to the care of The Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, Latham.
