Obituary of Jane M. Vet
JANE M. VET
ALBANY - Jane M. Vet, 73 of Albany, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home Saturday, September 9, 2023 with her loving children at her side after a courageous battle with Ocular Melanoma.
Born in Albany, NY, on January 16, 1950 she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Marjorie (Shields) Vickers. She graduated from Vincentian Institute. Jane spent thirty dedicated years working as a Public Health Representative for the NYS Department of Health. While with the Department of Health she served in several different capacities however her time in Newborn Screening was the one she cherished most. Jane was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved her family dearly and always took pride in and looked forward to family gatherings. You could find her in the kitchen cooking for forty plus family members even during her fight with cancer. Her children were her pride and joy but her grandchildren held the most special of places in her heart; they were and always will be her true light. While she will be dearly missed by all, her legacy of loving values and the memories her family holds near and dear will last forever.
In addition to her parents Jane is predeceased by her siblings Terry Vickers (surviving Geraldine) and Robert Vickers (surviving Kelly) as well as her nephew Brian Viele.
She is survived by her three loving children Joseph (Tracy) Vet, Jennifer (Dennis) Leonard, and Jeremy (Lenee) Vet. Also survived by her grandchildren Cameron (McKenzie) Oathout, Katie Oathout, Michael Leonard, Tyler Vet, and Ava Jane Vet, great-grandchildren Colbie and Collins, siblings Joan (Glenn) Viele, Lynn (late Gerry) Applebee, Timothy (Colleen) Vickers, as well as several nieces and nephews.
