The photo is from when I went back in November 2016, 5 years after retirement, to help out in Feeder. Got to see Marty and catch up on things.
I think I met Marty the end of 1982, on the Purple belt. Every night was an adventure.
Back in the mid eighties UPS was expanding the building. Marty and I were on the Brown and Purple belts. Somehow, 80 feet away, and 15 feet in the air, we communicated between our pick off towers. One night, there was a lull in the flow, Marty and I ran down the ladders and switched pick off positions. A young supervisor went running to Pat Lounsbery, screaming, "did you see what our pick off guys are doing?" Pat just waved his hands to say, "that's just John and Marty having fun".
When I worked with Marty in the hub, the hours flew by. Goodbye Marty, one of the best best friends I made at UPS.
