Clark E. Austin
COHOES - Clark Elwood Austin, 82, of Cohoes, New York, passed away on December 14, 2023. He was born on January 24, 1941, in Canandaigua, New York, son of the late Allen C. and Edith (Bowerman) Austin. Clark was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, devout believer, scholar, and a jack of all trades. He had a passion for puzzles, reading, woodworking, and traveling with Judy to visit Amish country in Ohio and also many visits to Old Sturbridge Village.
Clark is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Judith Leone. Clark was a proud father to Brian (Kerry) and a devoted grandfather to Connor, Evan, and Caroline. He is also survived by his sisters, Carolyn (Robert) Conner and Laurel Sawyer.
Clark's educational journey included attending Victor High School and furthering his studies at Cornell University, graduating with a degree in Agricultural Engineering. He then attended Dallas Theological Seminary where he earned his Master's in Theology. Clark's constant commitment to learning and intellectual pursuits was evident through his vast collection of books and his unwavering thirst for reading.
Clark spent the majority of his career in the ministry, pastoring churches in Greenfield Center NY, and Averill Park NY. He also served as a counselor and teacher at the Capital City Rescue Mission.
The funeral arrangements for Clark are being handled by Dufresne and Cavanaugh Funeral Home, located in Latham, NY. The family would like to thank the funeral home for their compassion and guidance and their friends and family for their support during this difficult time.
Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Clark's remarkable journey and share their memories on Tuesday, December 19th, 2023 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at The Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham. Funeral and interment will take place at a later date in his hometown of Farmington NY.
Clark will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His kind heart, wisdom, and passion for life will forever be remembered. May he rest in eternal peace.
