I knew Sister way back when at St John the Evangelist (St John's Catholic Academy) Math was not my best and she was adept at getting it through our hard heads. May you rest in peace with those who have gone before you.

I am so sorry to hear of Sister Carolyn's passing. I knew her as Sister Anitra William at St John the Evangelist School in Syracuse NY. What a nice person she was, with a pleasant personality and lots of patience with those of us who just couldn't "get" the concepts of math. Whenever I hear "Anitra's Dance" from Peer Gynt Suite, I think of her. No surprise that she went on to become such an adept leader within the CSJ community. And it was just like her to get a cosmetology license so she could serve her elderly charges! What a cool thing to do! And her motto of doing the best she could with whatever she had.... that's exactly what my dear mother used to say to us eight Maurillo kids.
Again, my condolences on her passing. But she's probably up there among the stars fixing up the angels' hairdos. May her soul rest in the arms of the Lord.

Sister Carolyn (Anitra William) came to De Sales High School for my senior year (1967-68). She was outstanding as our 12th year Math teacher and prepared us so well for college math. In fact, it was with her help procuring scholarships that I was able to attend college. As a principal, Sister Carolyn’s very presence commanded respect. She never had to raise her voice or dole out harsh punishments. It was enough for students to realize that they had disappointed her — she was that well loved and admired.

I will certainly always remember Sr. Caroline, as she was a significant figure in the formative years of my life. She was a smart, strong, holy, & kind woman who was respected & loved. May her memory be eternal. (Pray for us, Sister- I know you are/will- thank you)
