JAMES J. GRAULTY
LATHAM - James John Graulty, 74, passed into eternal life on February 23, 2024, at Schenectady Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing with his wife by his side.
Jim was born on August 10, 1949, the third of three children to John Lawrence Graulty and Stella Veronica Tomaski.
Jim married the love of his life, Deborah Claire Decker on October 9, 1976, and recently celebrated 47 years of marriage.
Jim enjoyed watching NASCAR and baseball. He also enjoyed being his wife's "taxi" driver and grocery shopping. He would patiently wait in the car while Deb was at an appointment or in a store and would people watch reporting to Deb the funny things, he would see people do.
Jim served his country honorably in the US Navy for 4 years during the Vietnam War Era.
Jim was a union electrician with Local 438 which later became Local 236 until the mid-1980's. He then worked for the United States Postal Service at New Karner Road for thirty-three years.
Jim is survived by his wife Deborah, his sister Kathleen LaPierre, brother-in-law Thomas Hoefer (late Karen), brothers-in-law Robert Decker (Phyllis), Douglas Decker (Sandra), his mother-in-law Jean Decker and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Jim was predeceased by his father, mother, sister Karen Hoefer and father-in-law Cecil Decker.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours at The Dufresne and Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham on Tuesday February 27th, 2024 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm with a service immediately following. Jim's wishes were to be cremated and his ashes spread at sea.
In lieu of flowers Jim's family requests memorial donations be made to the American Stroke Association, American Heart Association, or American Diabetes Association.
