Obituary of Vaughn "Soxy" Shea
Vaughn "Soxy" Shea, age 78, passed away on June 25, 2024. He is survived by his loving children Todd (Sue Ellen) Shea, Darlene (Kevin) Cavanaugh, and Scott (Tonya) Shea. Vaughn was a proud grandfather to Samantha, Mackenzie, Nicholas, Kennedy, Madison, the late Connor, and Riley, and a great-grandfather to Calli, Noah, and Elijah. He was the brother of Carolyn Shea, the late Virginia “Ginger” Percuoco and late Alan Shea. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Vaugh was born on May 2, 1946 in Troy, New York ,to the late Walter and Marion (Collins) Shea.
He moved to Michigan 40 years ago to work for Ford Motor Company with several of his friends and coworkers after the Ford company in Green Island, New York closed. Vaughn dedicated many years of his life working as a factory worker at Ford, where he was known for his strong work ethic. In his free time, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly the time spent golfing with his sons. Vaughn's memory will be treasured by all who knew him, leaving a legacy of love, dedication, and fond memories.
A memorial gathering was held at L.J. Griffin Funeral Home Northrop-Sassaman Chapel, 19091 Northville Road (at Seven Mile Road), on Friday, June 28, 2024, from 12 Noon until the time of his memorial service at 2:00 p.m.
Local services will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024. Mass of Christian Burial will take place beginning at 11:00 AM at St. Augustine's Church, 25 115th St, Troy, NY. Interment to immediately follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.
