DORIS L. MORRISON
Latham - Doris L. (Paterson) Morrison, 94 of Latham, beloved wife of the late Thomas F. Morrison, passed away peacefully on August 17th, 2024 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn while surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Troy on August 2, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Florence T. (Dill) Paterson. She was raised in Latham and resided in the same house her entire life. Doris was a life member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Latham. She was the much-loved wife of Thomas F. Morrison with whom she enjoyed 55 years of marriage until his passing in 2009.
Doris graduated from Latham Elementary School, Watervliet High School in 1948 and Mildred Elley Business School. In 2017 she received an honorary degree from Mildred Elley College. Doris was employed for 28 years as a dedicated secretary for the North Colonie Central School District at Shaker High School retiring in 1996. She was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Colonie Elks #2192 and served as president from 1969-70. She was also a member of the Friends of Pruyn House, Prime Timers, Young at Heart and RPEA.
Doris loved her family and the personal and special times she shared with them. She was exceptionally proud of her grandchildren and their accomplishments. She enjoyed her vacations in Cape Cod and extensive cruising to many countries.
Doris is survived by her loving daughters: Robin (James) L. Briggs and Jan M. Notaro (Charles); cherished grandchildren: Christopher (Samantha), Gregory (Nikki), Geoffrey and Kate Briggs, Lindsay and Kayla Neil; adored Great-Grandsons: Damien Henry and Cameron Reedy as well as several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday, August 19th, 2024 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at The Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
Funeral services will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 20th, 2024, 11:00 am at The Calvary United Methodist Church, 15 Ridge Place, Latham with Reverend Gordon Drake officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Doris’s memory to Calvary United Methodist Church, 15 Ridge Place, Latham, NY 12110
Interment will take place next to her husband Tom in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
