Obituary of Joan M. Murray
JOAN M. MURRAY
LATHAM – Joan M. Murray, 92 of Latham, beloved wife of the late James L. Murray, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 while in the comfort of her home with her daughter at her side.
Born in Gloversville, NY, she was the daughter of the late S. Eugene and Helen (Kobuskie) Marsino.
Joan graduated in 1950 from Catholic Central High School in Troy and went on to work for the NY Telephone Company and Metropolitan Insurance until becoming a stay-at-home mom. She enjoyed and cherished 64 years of marriage with her beloved Jim prior to his passing in 2016. The two shared a passion for golf and dancing, along with trips to the Racino. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Joan will be deeply missed yet her memory and legacy will live on the hearts of those she loved.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Helayne Wright (Daniel), grandchildren Kevin Wright (Carrie), Kristin Savoy (Joe Grega), Matthew Wright (Katie), and Melissa Paris (Rob), as well as great-grandchildren Ashley Daniel (Kyle Bestle), Griffin and Duncan Wright, Ryan and Miles Paris, and William and Benjamin Woods.
In addition to her late husband and parents, Joan is predeceased by her daughter Linda Murray.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 23rd, 2024, 11:00 AM at Our Lady of The Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Joan's family prior to the mass from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the chapel of Our Lady of the Assumption. Interment to immediately follow the mass in the family plot of St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy.
In lieu of flowers, donations are kindly asked to be made to either Community Hospice at www.communityhospice.org/donate or Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
