My deepest sympathies Carole. I remember with great fondness the times we 'endured' together as GE Managers and on the golf course. Joe's sense of humor, technical expertise and common sense were a source of strength and inspiration to us all. Fondly, Adrian

I have many warm memories of Joe in our many years of interaction at GE. Joe was always the consummate professional, a gentleman, good friend and a man of personal integrity and technical honesty that was his hallmark as an engineer and manager. I and my wife offer our sincerest sympathies and condolences to his family and particularly to his wife Carole and brother John, with whom I also had the pleasure of working for a number of years at GE. I am sorry that I may not be able to make a personal visit at this time but please know that Joe is in my prayers. Sincerely Mike Cocca

The Pepes were a big part of my childhood. We always looked forward to our visits - so much fun putting on plays for the parents, beating them in charades as we got older, horseback riding, swimming in the lake, etc - many, many laughs over the years.
Joe was in many ways like an uncle to my sisters and I. We are grateful he was a part of our lives. See you in heaven!
Carol, Shawn, Katie and Christine and families - my prayers are with you.
Love, Lora

"Let us not forget that the cultivation of the earth is the most important labor of man. When tillage begins, other arts will follow. The farmers, therefore, are the founders of civilization."
- Daniel Webster
I'd like to think Mr. Webster's propensity for self-editing is the reason why two key words were left out of this famous statement; two key words most apropos to Joe, given his magnificent legacy on this earth:
"And family."
Well done, Joe.
And I wish I'd known you.
Rest in peace,
KB

To Carole and all family members -
Marilyn & I will always remember Joe with the fondest of memories. We met Joe in 1966 when Joe & I began working for U.S.Steel Research in Monroeville. Our friendship with Carole & Joe continued long after we went our separate ways, for we would visit each other 2 or 3 times a year for many years. In some ways, our families grew up together.
I'll always remember Joe as an independent thinker, a good friend, a loving father and family man and someone I really enjoyed playing golf with, even though neither of us was very good.
Marilyn and I had the privilege of praying with Joe when we learned that he had brain cancer many years ago. He graciously welcomed our prayers and agreed to believe God for the healing. Although he had to endure the rigorous ordeal of the chemotherapy, I don't remember ever hearing him complain. He just "toughed it out" and completed the regimen. Praise God for that healing and the years that he enjoyed as a result.
Joe leaves behind a loving wife and a wonderful family. We will all miss him, but we thank God for letting us share a part of his life.
