DAVID E. CHARTRAND
Watervliet-David E. "Unkie" Chartrand, 72, of Watervliet, beloved husband of Patricia DuBois Chartrand entered into eternal life on Monday, August 9, 2010 at the Community Hospice at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy.
He was the son of the late David and Loretta Crowley Chartrand. Dave was educated at Watervliet High School. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1955 and served as a paratrooper with the 101st airborne division. While in the service he learned the electrical trade and worked special duty as a heating-electrical mechanic. Dave worked for the NY Board of Fire Underwriters in Albany for many years and later was a Electrical Instructor at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy. He most recently was the New York State Manager for Middle Department Inspection Agency overseeing three offices in the State. Dave was selected as a honored member in the Who's who among outstanding Corporate Executives in 1998. He was a member of the NYS Building Officials, the Northeastern Subcontractors, the Dutchess County Electrical league. Dave was a member of the Watervliet Veterans of Foreign Wars Watervliet Post. He was a member of the Colonie Elks Lodge #2192.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his children Danny (Merci) Chartrand of Clarksville, TN, Patty (Tony) Easley of Pleasant View, TN and Nancy (Sal) Cicchinelli of Cropseyville, his grandchildren Cliff and Jacklyn Chartrand, Andrea (Jason) Thomason, Erika (Jesse) Stuart, Tarah (John) Perry, Sarah, Bradley and Travis Cicchinelli, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his siblings Ernest and Joseph Chartrand, Dorothy Winaroski and Paul Chartrand.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday August 12, 2010 at 9:00 am at Our Lady of The Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Rd, Latham with Rev. Geoffrey Burke officiating.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday from 4-7 pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, Ltd., 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
Interment with full Military honors will be in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
