M. GRACE DODGE
Halfmoon- M. Grace Dodge, 83 of Halfmoon, beloved wife of Kenneth Dodge passed away in the comfort of her home on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 with her loving family by her side.
Born in Cohoes on June 3, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Laurin and Mary Grace (Evensen) Hess. Grace married the love of her life Kenneth Dodge on June 10, 1950 in the original St. Ambrose Church in Latham and the two shared a blessed union of 60 years together. She attended grade school in the Verdoy one room school house on Route 7 in Verdoy and graduated from Watervliet High School. She was formerly employed as a secretary for General Electric in Schenectady and for J.J. Powell attorney at Law until she retired to raise her family. She was a member of the Colonie Elks Lodge #2192, the Verdoy Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the lucky strike bowling league at Latham Bowl. She cherished her family vacations at the coast of Maine and Florida as well as traveling around the country. Grace loved taking trips on the many railroads. What she loved most in life was having family get togethers with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors in addition to her husband include her loving children Kenneth R. (Tina) Dodge of Wilton, Larry (Ruth) Dodge of Colonie, Ann (Kevin) Reavey of Saratoga and Jeff Dodge of Cohoes. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephew. Grace was predeceased by her sisters Lorraine Symanski and Marian Allen and brothers Laurin Hess and Bernard Hess.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday March 18, 2011 at 9:00 am in St. Mary's Church of Cresent 86 Church Hill Rd. Waterford, with Rev. Joseph Cebula officiating.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 4-7 pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
Interment will be in Memory's Garden in Colonie.
Contributions to the Shriners Hospitals for Children 516 Carew Street Springfield, MA 01104-2396 in Graces's memory would be appreciated.
The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff of the Saratoga Community Hospice for the wonderful care given to Grace during her illness.
