Obituary of Stasia M. Mendel

Watervliet-Stasia M. Mendel, 102 of Watervliet, beloved wife of the late Edward M. Mendel, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Albany Memorial Hospital. Born and educated in Cohoes, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Wolczanska Bartnick. Stasia had resided in Latham for over 50 years and was a Watervliet resident for the last 25 years. She was a communicant of St. Ambrose Church in Latham. She was the devoted mother of Robert E. (Janet) Mendel of Latham and Patricia H. (Charles) Fox of Niskayuna, sister of Helen Hoff of Albany, adored grandmother of Janel Mendel of Petersburg, Kelly (Debbie) Mendel of Clifton Park, Lori (Walter) Peretti of Niskayuna, Rick (Cathy) Fox of Portland, ME and Michele (Richard) Carroll of Niskayuna, cherished great-grandmother of Shawn Mendel, Justin, Matthew and Zachary Peretti, Sloane Fox, Trevor, Ryan and Tyler Carroll, sister-in-law of Jeanne Bartnick and Lucy Bartnick, also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her late husband Stasia was predeceased by her brothers Edmund, Thaddeus and Edward Bartnick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday April 16, 2011 at 11:00 am in St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham with Rev. Francis DuBois officiating. Calling hours are private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be next to her husband in St. Michael's Cemetery in Waterford. Donations to St. Ambrose Church 347 Old Loudon Rd.
