Obituary of Andrew J. Giovannone

ANDREW J. GIOVANNONE Latham-It is with great sadness that the family of Andrew J. Giovannone, 68, of Latham, announce his passing Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at his home in Latham surrounded by his beloved family. Survivors include his beloved wife of 46 years Judith A. (Chillemi) Giovannone, his cherished sons Vincent Giovannone of Latham, Paul Giovannone of Hagerstown, MD and Mark David Giovannone of Latham, his sister Giannina Colamarco-Mondillo of Naples, Italy, brothers Fortunato Colamarco of Italy, and Raffaele Giovannone of Albany. He was the cousin of Susan Barbone of Cohoes and is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Andrew was predeceased by his sister Albina Colamarco-Nuzzi, and brothers Franco Colamarco, Gennaro Giovannone. He was educated in Naples, Italy and came to the United States in 1963 at the age of 20. He worked at GAG/BASF in Rensselaer for over 32 years as a Chemical Operator. He was the "Andy" in Andy's Cakes in East Greenbush for 22 years. Lastly Andy worked for the City of Albany as a Security Officer for the Water Department, who the family would like to offer a very special thank you. He was a member of the Colonie Elks Lodge #2192 and the American Italian Heritage Museum in Albany. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the Cathedral of Immaculate Saints corner of Eagle St. and Madison Ave. with Rev. William Pape officiating. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home 149 Old Loudon Rd. Latham on Friday from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont.
