ALMERON "AL" J. RICHMOND
Rensselaer- Almeron "Al" J. Richmond, 73 formerly of Latham, passed away Friday, August 12, 2011 at Albany Medical Center, Albany.
Born in Troy on December 11, 1937, he was the son of the late Almeron J. and Nellie (Buckley) Richmond. Al was married to the former Elizabeth "Betty" Degen on May 2, 1959 and the two shared a blessed union of 52 years prior to his passing.
Al was employed for several years with Kaiser Opth. in Albany, retiring in 2000.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his 6 loving children: Lisa (Edward) Cehowski of Latham, Karen (Tom) Cox of Summerville, SC, Col. Stephen (Tonia) Richmond of Germany, Matthew (Wendy) Richmond of Green Island, Eric (Linda) Richmond of Ballston Spa & Elizabeth (James DeCrescenzo Jr. of Colonie; 15 cherished grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren as well as his siblings: Helen Schleich of Colonie, Marion Acker of Loudonville, Kathleen (Carl) Lynch of Latham & Paul (Janice) Richmond of Glens Falls; sisters in law Noreen & Marjorie Richmond and several nieces & nephews.
Al was predeceased by his brothers Thomas & Robert Richmond.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday August 17 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham. Fr. Geoffrey Burke will officiate
Relatives and friends are invited to call Tuesday August 16 from 4-7 pm at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, Ltd., 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society
Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Watervliet.
