ROBERT W. WILSON SR.
Latham- Robert W. Wilson Sr., 93 of Latham, beloved husband of the late Gladys (Aines) Wilson, passed away on Sunday October 16, 2011 at Eddy Village Green in Cohoes.
Born and educated in Ithaca, he was the son of the late Wilmer J. and Lydia May (Smith) Wilson. He graduated from Cornell University in 1939, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity & Pi Alpha Xi and Scarab honorary societies. After graduation he worked in Oneonta, Sewickley, PA., & Washington DC at various landscaping projects. While in Washington, he attended George Washington University, receiving a certificate in photogrammetry, which qualified him to make maps from aerial photographs. Bob was a World War II veteran, in 1941 with the 30th Army Engineers which became the 660th Engineers when they sailed to England in 1942. Besides making maps of France and teaching map making to new troops, he made a scale model of the Normandy coast of France which was used in planning the "D-Day" beach heads. After his honorable discharge in 1946, he went to work as a Landscape Architect, starting with the NYSDOT in Buffalo then moving to the Albany area where he worked as a Supervising Landscape Architect in the NYS Office of General Services Building Design & Construction, retiring in 1976 after 30 years of service.
Bob was a licensed Landscape Architect, a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, D.A.V., Past Commander of the Colonie American Legion Post 1256, Past vice Commander of the Albany County American Legion and Past President of the Men's Garden Club of Mt. Dora, Fl.
He is survived by his loving children: Susan Darbyshire of Latham, Robert (Elizabeth) Wilson Jr. of Canajoharie & James (Mary Anne) Wilson of Penn Yan, NY; 9 cherished grandchildren & 7 great grandchildren as well as his sister: Evelyn Monroe Loveville of DE
He is predeceased by his daughter; Margaret May Wilson and his sister, Nell Pond
The family wishes to thank the staff of House 6 at the Eddy Village Green for their care & compassionate care.

Private Graveside services will be held at East Lawn Cemetery, Ithaca at the convenience of the family.
