ELEANOR M. RYAN
Latham- Eleanor M. Ryan, 89 of Latham, beloved wife of Francis J. Ryan for over 70 years, entered into eternal life on Monday, January 16, 2012 at her home with her loving family at her side.
Born and educated in Troy, she was the daughter of the late John Joseph and Elizabeth (Horlacher) McCafferty. She was a graduate of Troy High School. Eleanor married her beloved Francis J. Ryan on June 28, 1941.
She was employed by Colonie Fiber Company in Green Island for over 20 years until her retirement in 1961. Eleanor and her family moved to Latham in 1958 and she became very active in the community. She was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham where she has served as a Trustee for over 18 years. She was a past-president of the altar-rosary society at the church and also served as a Eucharistic minister and Lector. Eleanor was a past-president of the Columbietts in Albany. She was a longtime member of the Colonie Elks Ladies Auxiliary where she and her husband Frank also served as host and hostess for dinners many years.
Survivors in addition to her husband include: her loving daughter Carol (Robert) Thompson, her cherished grandchildren Lori (Jeff) Childs, Kathleen (Timothy) Berger, Dawn Thompson, her adored great-grandchildren Jeffrey Robert Childs and Kara Eleanor Berger all of Clifton Park, her brothers Robert McCafferty of Troy and Donald (Elizabeth) McCafferty of Umatilla, Florida.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home 149 Old Loudon Rd. Latham and at 10:00a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham with Rev. Geoffrey Burke, pastor officiating.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Thursday from 4-7 pm at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home. .
Entombment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
The family would like to thank the wonderful ladies who were Eleanor's caregivers for the love and care given to her.
