EDWARD F. DONNELLY
Latham- Edward F. Donnelly, 90 of Latham, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Albany Memorial Hospital, in Albany.
Born in Elizabeth, NJ on June 6, 1922, he was the son of the late Francis W. and Mary (Moore) Donnelly. Edward married the former Mabel E. Stoddard on August 17, 1946 and the two shared a blessed union of nearly 66 years together.
Ed moved to Greenwich, CT, as a young boy where he met Mabel for the first time when he was 10 and she was 8. They married, raised their family and lived in Greenwich until 2001, when they moved to the Capital District. Ed was a proud WW II Coast Guard Veteran who served in the South Pacific from 1942-1946. He loved to read and do jigsaw puzzles. He was a lifelong National League baseball fan, devotedly rooting 1st for the New York Giants until they moved out West, then the New York Mets. He also loved the New York Football Giants. Ed was also a longtime member as well as Secretary/Treasurer for the Sound Beach Vol. Fire Dept. in Old Greenwich, Ct. He was a lifelong blood donor.
Ed was employed with the Bunker Ramo Corp. in Trumbull, Ct. as a Business Systems Analyst, eventually retiring in 1987 after 22 years.
In addition to his beloved wife Mabel, he is survived by his loving children: Richard P. (Dee Ann) Donnelly of Concord, NH, Lynn E. Donnelly of Watervliet & Robert S. (Vivian) Donnelly of Latham as well as his 6 cherished grandchildren: Amy (Darrell) Beaupr, Stacy (Brian) O'Shea; Conor J. (Sarah) Donnelly, Katie, Ryan & Kyle Donnelly and 7 adored great grandchildren: Conor & Molly Beaupr, Jack & Samuel & Emily O'Shea and Otealia & Callan Donnelly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday June 11, 2012 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the American Red Cross.
Interment with military honors will take place in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands.
