PETER S. HALLOCK
Latham- Peter Smyth Hallock, 58 of Latham passed away at his home on August 5, 2013. He was born in Albany on June 8, 1955, to the late Eugene D. Hallock Jr. and Mary Smyth Hallock.
Peter graduated from Christian Brothers Academy, and attended Clarkson College. Peter joined his father, brother and two business partners, Frederic and John Stutzman in running Hudson River Construction Company.
Peter's true passion was his art. He enjoyed working with oils and pastels. He built a studio in his home, known as Studio 76, where he and other artists got together each Saturday morning to paint.
Peter served on the board of the Down Syndrome Aim High Resource Center, and was a Trustee and Chairman of Laborer's Local 190 Pension and Welfare funds. He also was a Trustee of Laborer's Union Local 35 Pension and Welfare funds, and the Eastern NY Laborer's Training Center. He was a member of the Wolferts Roost Country Club and a communicant at St. Ambrose Church.
He was proudest of his two daughters, Rachel and Abigail and their many accomplishments. He was a wonderful father, and enjoyed spending time with them, especially on the ski slopes.
Peter was married to his wife and best friend, Renee on May 23, 1987. They enjoyed traveling and playing golf together.
In addition to his wife and daughters, he is survived by his brother Eugene D. Hallock III (Alexandra) and his sister Katherine Pennington (Ben). He was predeceased by an infant sister, Mary Lourdes. He is the beloved son-in-law to Eli and Dorothy Robert, brothers-in-law James (Holly) Carbino, John (Jeanne) Carbino, Douglas (Debbie) Robert, and Larry (Clare) Robert, and sisters-in-law Sandra (Paul) Bruno, Diane (Greg) Light, and Lynn (Michael) DeBarr, his Uncle Thomas Smyth, numerous nieces and nephews, and several cousins.
The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses who have cared for Peter these past 18 months, and to their many friends who shared in his emotional journey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday August 10, 2013, at 10:00 am at St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday August 9, 2013, from 4-7 pm at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
