Obituary of Nancy A. Kelly

NANCY ASHLEY KELLY Latham- Our beloved mother and best friend passed away on the afternoon of January 6, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Chester and Doris (Quinn) Ashley born on May 23, 1936. As a young girl she excelled in school, was a wonderful writer and enjoyed riding horses. Nancy graduated from Sacred Heart Elementary School, Catholic Central High School, College of St. Rose and Siena College where she earned her Masters Degree. Nancy taught History and English at School 18 in Troy. She married Maurice Joseph Kelly Jr. on November 17, 1962 and shortly thereafter moved to Latham. They raised seven children and enjoyed their family and friends. She worked as a guidance counselor at Shaker High School and later went to work for the Town of Colonie. Nancy is survived by her loving children; Jay and his wife Kristine Kelly, Susan and her husband Kevin Mooney, Gregory and his wife Andrea Kelly, Matthew and his wife Deanna Kelly, Erin Mary Kelly and her husband Brian Schilling, Brian and his wife Marianna Kelly, and Colleen and her husband Christian Salisbury. She is also survived by her 18 cherished grandchildren; Clare, Catherine, Joe, MaryElizabeth, Liam, Conor, Gregory, Caroline, Sophie, Julia, Anna, Isabelle, Jack, Olivia, Reilly, Sammy, Gracie and Lizzie who all have happy times to remember. We all loved her and will miss her forever. In keeping with her wishes there will be no visitation Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday January 9, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Fr. Anthony Barratt will officiate. Interment will take place next to her beloved Maurice in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Troy.
