Obituary of Evelyn M. Burton

EVELYN M. BURTON Latham- Evelyn M. Burton, 88, of Latham, beloved wife of the late Joseph G. Burton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 11, 2014 at Our Lady of Hope Residence. Born July 18, 1925, in Troy, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Edward F. and Anna (Tyrrell) Slattery. She was a 1943 graduate of Catholic Central High School in Troy. At one time Evelyn was employed at Behr- Manning for over 15 years; she then accepted a position as a Secretary at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy. She is survived by her loving children: Thomas M. (Brenda) Burton of Saratoga, and Nancy (Steven) Morrison of Gainesville, FL. as well as her cherished grandchildren: Sara Kate, Brittany, Colin, Tyler, Lindsey, Justin, Jeremy, Sarah, Michael, Ashley and Josh, and her great grandchildren Giavanna, Aiden and Mason, her sister-in-law Mary Slattery of Troy and her niece Karen Taque. In addition to her parents she was pre-deceased by her sister Barbara Breen. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday March 14, from 4-7 p.m. at Our Lady of Hope Residence, 1 Jeanne Jugan Lane, Latham. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday March 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Hope Chapel, 1 Jeanne Jugan Lane, Latham. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Our Lady of Hope, 1 Jeanne Jugan Lane, Latham, NY 12110. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy.
