Obituary of Catherine Ellen Caragher

Latham- Catherine Ellen Caragher, 89, of Latham, beloved wife of the late John Francis (Jack) Caragher, passed away on Monday May 12, 2014 at Schuyler Ridge Health Care Center in Clifton Park where she currently resided.
Born in New York City on June 26th 1924, Catherine was the daughter of the late Reuben and Nellie (Evans) Supple. She grew up in Rockaway Beach, and was a graduate of Bishop McDonald High School in Brooklyn.
Catherine met Jack while working for the Borden Company in New York. The couple fell in love and got married on September 13th 1947. After the Borden Company, Catherine spent many years as a loving and dedicated homemaker for her four children. She later returned to work as an office worker for American Bakeries. After retiring in 1989, Catherine and Jack moved to Palm Harbor, Florida in 1990. After cherishing forty-eight years of marriage, Catherine was predeceased by Jack in 1995. She remained in Florida until 2008 when she then returned to New York to be near her family.
Catherine enjoyed Mahjong, pinochle and reading. She was very involved in her catholic parishes including Holy Name of Mary in Valley Stream and St. Luke's in Palm Harbor
She is survived by her loving children Mary Ellen (Michael) Egelston of Latham, John Caragher of MI, Thomas (Patricia) Caragher of NC and Jean Marie (Michael) Gaspar of CA. She also leaves behind her nine grandchildren Paul (Christine), Nicholas (Stephanie), Patrick, Matthew (Stephanie) and Scott Caragher, Susan (Matthew) Rys, Karen (Kevin) Moughan, Kathleen (William) Pickett, and Kristen
(Ryan) Pooler, along with 13 Great-Grandchildren; Taylor, Brooke, Samantha, Sydney, Hayden, Daniel and Mallory Caragher, Abigail, Daniel and Elizabeth Rys, James and Thomas Moughan and Caroline Pickett.
Catherine was predeceased by her brothers Joseph and Richard Supple.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday May 15 at 9:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham with Fr. Geoffrey Burke officiating.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday May 14 from 5-7 pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham, NY
Interment will take place next to her beloved Jack in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
