DONALD J. FITZGIBBON
Albany- Donald J. FitzGibbon, 84 of Albany, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Community Hospice at St. Peters Nursing Center, Albany after a long illness.
Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Edmond J. and Marguerite A. (O'Keeffe) FitzGibbon.
Donald resided in the area all of his life. He was a graduate of Vincentian Institute and Siena College. He was married to his loving wife Margaret (Klein) FitzGibbon for 58 years. Together, they enjoyed traveling, music lessons and Siena Saints Basketball as well as bicycling and tennis. Donald was a volunteer at St. Margaret-Mary's Church and a member of the NYS Association of Transportation Engineers.
He was employed with the New York State Department of Transportation as a Capital Project Coordinator for 38 years, retiring in 1988.
Donald is survived by his beloved wife: Margaret and his loving daughter: Nancy and her husband Mark Landau and his two cherished grandsons David (Lisseth) and Kevin Landau as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his Brothers: Edmond (Betty) J. FitzGibbon MD and James FitzGibbon.
A special thank you to the friends at St. Peter's Nursing and Rehab Center in Albany especially the third floor staff for the excellent care they gave and to Hospice of Albany County for their compassion.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday May 29, 2014 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham. Fr. Geoffrey Burke will officiate.
Visitation will be private.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Donald's memory to Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Rd., Latham, NY 12110.
Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands
