THEODORE R. RUSSELL
Latham -Theodore Richard Russell, 84, of Latham, beloved husband of the late Beatrice Gustavson, passed away on Thursday June 12, 2014 at St. Peters Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Albany.
Born in Bronx, NY on May 27, 1930, he was the son of the late Theodore Roosevelt and Margaret (Hoffman) Russell. He proudly served in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1953.
As a pilot for many years, he held the position of Senior Captain with the NYS Department of Aviation, responsible for flying Governors': Nelson Rockefeller, Malcolm Wilson, Hugh Carey, Mario Cuomo, and their elected staff. Ted was also a member of Local Union #501 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Theodore is survived by his son: Michael (Luann) Russell of Mahopac, NY, and his daughter Linda (Rick) Mitter of Texas, he was predeceased by his son Theodore R. Russell Jr.and step father to Roger (Lisa) Keating of Scotia, Barbara (Timothy) Goodwin of Rexford, Cathy (Kevin) Moore of Rotterdam and Jim (Cindy) Perry of Wynantskill. Theodore was the lifelong friend of Judi (The late Ken) Couch of Latham and their children K.J. Couch, Kim Couch and Robert Couch. He was also survived by several grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to a attend Mass of Christian burial on Saturday June 14, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Rd. Latham with Fr. Geoffrey Burke officiating.
Interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx at the convenience of the family.
