Obituary of Luigi Pepe

Latham- Luigi Pepe, 73 of Latham, beloved husband of Maria Cardillo Pepe entered into eternal life on
Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany.
Born in Muro Lucano, Italy, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Maria Philomena (Lampariello)
Pepe. He was raised and educated in Pagani, Italy. He moved to the United States on March 4, 1968 and
married the love of his life Maria Cardillo on September 7, 1968. The two have shared a beautiful
marriage of over 46 years.
He worked as a painter for the New York State Office of General Services for 22 years and retired in 1992.Luigi was also a self employed contractor in the Capital District for many years.
He was a member of the Italian Benevolent Society in West Albany. He regularly frequented
Elena's Cafe where he enjoyed friendships and his Italian heritage. Luigi loved making homemade wine,
sauces, canning tomatoes and other vegetables. He was an avid soccer fan cheering for his favorite
hometown team; Napoli. He loved traveling with his wife and family including his annual cruises with
Maria. Fondest memories were his trips back to his home country, Italy. The greatest joy of his life was
his family and the special times in his back yard with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his loving children Pasqualino (Margaret) Pepe of Latham,
Alessandro D. (Melissa) Pepe of Latham, and Gianni (Kari) Pepe of Colonie, his cherished
grandchildren Maria A. Pepe, Nicholas P. Pepe, Gianna F. Pepe and Luigi J. Pepe and his sister
Giovanna Tortora of Italy. Luigi was predeceased by his sister Maria Ramundo. He is also survived by
many nieces and nephews in the United States as well as Italy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday August 18, 2014 at 10:00 am in St. Ambrose
Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham with Rev. Anthony Barratt officiating.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. til 4:00 pm at the Dufresne &
Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
Interment will be in Memory Garden's, Colonie.
The family would like to give a special thank you to friends and family who spent special time with Luigi
during this difficult time including his nurse Debbie McHugh.
